Reconomy

In July 2006, Englefield formed Reconomy Holdings Ltd as the holding company to develop a business in the UK recycling-led waste management sector. Martin Nye, previously at Mentmore and Exel, is leading the execution of this strategy as Chief Executive. To date, we have made twelve acquisitions and the business has annualised turnover of approximately £100m.

The largest part of the group is currently Wastefile, a leading national outsourced waste services provider which operates nationwide recycling focused waste management and compliance services, with a particular focus on the construction, house-building and utilities sectors. In addition, Reconomy has to date acquired a total of eight businesses operating in the East Midlands and East Anglia regions, providing a broad range of recycling and waste management services to customers in the commercial and industrial sector. These operations are being developed through further investment in sorting and processing facilities in order to minimise the amount of waste going to landfill. Reconomy currently has four primary recycling/sorting/transfer station sites located in Northampton, Corby, Boston and near Cambridge. The intention is to expand into other geographic regions through acquisition and organically. Recently Reconomy completed the acquisition of Nutrafeed, a company specialising in recycling packaged food wastes, based in Wrexham.

It is our intention that Reconomy will continue to grow through both organic growth, and acquisition of businesses with appropriate strategic fit, to create an important business in the sector.
