To complement its investment strategy, Englefield has established an Advisory Board which meets periodically to review major issues which affect the overall investment environment. Members of the Advisory Board are:
Yves de Balmann - Co-Chairman of Bregal Investments, was Vice-Chairman of Bankers Trust prior to its acquisition by Deutsche Bank. He then became global Head of Investment Banking and Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. Yves' banking career started more than 30 years ago at Citicorp where he became Head of Derivatives for North America. In addition to his involvement with Bregal, Yves is on the Board of Constellation Energy and ESI.
Louis Brenninkmeijer - Co-Chairman of Bregal investments, has over 25 years experience in specialty stores and large scale retail in Canada, Japan, USA and Europe. He held CEO positions for C&A Japan and American Retail Group and was a member of C&A's European Advisory Board.
Professor Tim Congdon - CBE, Founder of Lombard Street Research Ltd and a frequent contributor to the financial press.
Professor Dr. Ronald Frohne - Senior Partner of the leading independent law practice in Germany, Norr Stiefenhofer Lutz. He is one of the outstanding media lawyers in Germany and practises throughout the world on behalf of his international clients.
Sir David Frost - The world-renowned broadcaster and businessman, has been in the front line of television news and entertainment for over 40 years.
Vincent Gombault - A Private Equity Portfolio Manager and Member of the Executive Committee for AXA Private Equity.
Ed McKinley - A Senior Partner at Warburg Pincus for 19 years until January 2003 who continues as Senior Advisor to that firm.
Paul Myners - CBE, current positions include Chairman of Guardian Media Group and non-executive Chairman of Land Securities. His previous positions include Chairman of Marks & Spencer and a non-executive director of the Bank of New York. He retired in 2001 after 17 years as Chairman of Gartmore Investment Management. Also in 2001 he completed a review of Institutional Investment for HM Treasury.
Sir Hayden Philips - Formerly Permanent Secretary at the Department for Constitutional Affairs. He was the ninth and last Permanent Secretary for the Lord Chancellor's Department. Prior to that he was Permanent Secretary at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Sir Hayden was also on the board of GSL (an Englefield portfolio company) as a non-executive director until Englefield's sale of that company.
Lord Robertson of Port Ellen - Previously Secretary General of NATO (1999–2003) and before that Secretary of State for Defence (1997–1999). In February 2004 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of Cable & Wireless. He is a non-executive director of The Weir Group PLC and Smiths Group PLC, also strategic advisor to Royal Bank of Canada Europe.
Sir John Rose - Chief Executive of Rolls Royce, received his knighthood in the 2003 New Year's Honours List. He joined Rolls Royce in 1984 and became Chief Executive in May 1996. He is a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society and a Council Member of the Prince's Trust.
Etienne de Villiers was a founding partner of Englefield Capital, retains a non-executive involvement. He is also non-executive Chairman of BBC Worldwide and President and Chairman of ATP Tour, the organization which runs professional tennis. Prior to Englefield's formation he spent 14 years with The Walt Disney Company, latterly as head of their European activities.
Eric Walters was a founding partner with Englefield Capital. Eric is currently Chairman of Capita Group plc, a FTSE-100 company. He has 14 years of European private equity experience as a partner of Schroder Ventures (now Permira) and as a partner of Alchemy Partners. Prior to that, Eric was with Lex Group and Grand Metropolitan. Eric graduated from Cambridge University in natural sciences.
